Another book from the author and singer-songwriter Andrew Peterson, On The Edge Of The Dark Sea of Darkness, is the first installment in a four part series entitled The Wingfeather Saga. It’s a fun story for kids of all ages as Peterson, in his typical light and winsome fashion, tells the tale of three children (Janner, Tink, and Leeli) trapped under the oppressive rule of the Fangs (giant lizard men) sent by their dark master to find the only thing that survived the destruction of the peaceful kingdom of Anniera. The book is imaginative, funny, and meaningful as Peterson weavers together elements that make for an epic fantasy adventure. I’d recommend this book to anyone interested in fantasy adventure tales, but especially to families with children who enjoy reading or need to shut off their screens for a minute or two and get lost in a story of another world that mirrors our own.
